Michael Johnathon - Woodsongs (Poetman)

This CD a pleasant collection of folk, old and new, but one that really doesn't compare to artists like Don McClean, Pete Seegar or Jerry Jeff Walker. "The Mountains O'Mourne", in particular, was sung, in Dublin, by Don McClean to great acclaim and Michael's version is just too similar.

Also, "Over the Mountain" is, to my knowledge, another old Irish song, a fact that is not mentioned. There's nothing particularly wrong with this CD, and it probably would appeal to someone who'd never heard or seen Tom Paxton or Pete Seeger, but it lacks that special something that makes a classic folk album.
